IN THE THICK OF THINGS

A Movement and Land-Based Sanctuary of “Undoing”

Join Michelle Brass and Darci Anderson in collaboration with Michela Carrière of Aski Holistic Adventures for this 4 day event on the Saskatchewan River Delta.

Join us as we explore what it means to live in "right relationship" with the land, with our bodies, and with each other in the community. How can we rethink and reimagine health and wellness beyond a human-centric lens?

The desire of this course is to construct a mood and a taste for experimental and speculative knowing, being, and doing.

We will work, always unevenly, through messy entanglements and contradictions to meet each other with generosity and a willingness to keep trying.

In the words of Bayo Akomolafe, this event gives you “permission to fail.” We will make sanctuary to stumble, hiccup and trip over our words and movement so as to meet each other anew. Let’s
move beyond critique and the fear of “getting it wrong.”

In this four-day event of the ongoing work of “making sanctuary” we will make space to imagine ideas, pose questions, and deeply ponder creative, meaningful ways of living in community and connection in a modern world that separates people, families, land, food, movement, health, and well-being. How can we live interconnectedly in a disconnected and separated world?

Through movement, ancestral food practices, and deep discussion, we will question what it means to be healthy and happy on an increasingly sick and dying planet. It’s not about “finding the right solution”, but rather deeply pondering the possibilities, contradictions, challenges and rewards of fully engaging in a different w ay of living. In what ways could we reconnect, recalibrate, and reimagine a life that supports health and healing for both people and the planet?
